Harris Virginia Lacey Harris was born April 25, 1919 in Columbus, Ohio. She departed this life June 13, 2013. She was predeceased by her parents William and Ethel (Ferguson) West, her brother Robert (Bob) West, and her husband of 57 years Ernest Harris. She leaves to mourn, her son, Howard and his wife, Latheresa Harris; granddaughters, Alyssa Harris of Dallas, TX and Shane Harris of Valley Village, CA.; her special friends, Guathel Robinson, Bernetta Lovelace, Bea Harris, Alice Robinson, and Katheryn Woodruff. Virginia was a member of New Salem Baptist Church where she was affiliated with Agape III Care Group, The Seasoned Seniors, the Food Pantry Ministry, and the Cleveland-Sims Sunday School Class until her health failed. Virginia was a charter member of Winona Chapter O.E.S. with a membership of over 50 years. She was a life member of the Y.W.C.A. and a past president of "Thursday at the Y". She was a reading tutor for the Literary Council of Ohio. She volunteered for several years at the Red Cross Blood Bank. She also did volunteer work at Grant Hospital and Children's Hospital. Virginia attended The Ohio State University and earned an associate degree from Captial University in Early Childhood Education. She and her husband loved to travel. They traveled with the "Batelle Gypsies" to Scandinavia and several countries in Europe. They spent time in the Far East and Alaska. Her favorite trip was to the Holy Land. After her husband passed she traveled to the Caribbean and loved cruises. She took several trips in the States with the Seasoned Seniors.
