W. Robert Radcliff Obituary
Radcliff W. Robert Radcliff "Bob", age 91, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2014 at home, surrounded by his loving wife and family. Bob was born on September 20, 1922 in Caldwell, Ohio to William M. and Mary Jane (King) Radcliff. He graduated from Caldwell High School and attended Ohio University before he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country during WWII in the South Pacific Theatre of Operations. He was honorably discharged from the USMC in 1953 with the rank of Captain. Following WWII, he attended and graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. Bob was employed by Buckeye Steel Castings for 40 years. He was a world traveler for his company and joined Governor James Rhodes and others from the Ohio business community in the historic inaugural Ohio Trade Mission to the Republic of China in 1979. He was a member of the American Foundry Society and served on the board of directors. Bob also was an active member of the Aladdin Shrine and worked many years at the Shrine Circus. He was an active member of Riverside Methodist Church for 58 years where he served in several areas. Bob and his wife, Barbara served together as volunteers at NNEMAP Food Pantry and together they delivered Meals on Wheels each week for 25 years. After retiring, Bob, an avid woodworker, devoted many hours constructing wooden toys for patents at Children's Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first born son Stephen Dallas, and brothers Don and Ralph. Survived by his wife of 69 years; five children, Mike (Margene) Radcliff of Mooresville, NC, Beth (Al) Fillenwarth of St. Louis, MO, Susan (Craig) Ryan of Noblesville, IN, Rob (Donna) Radcliff of Upper Arlington, OH, and Nancy (Phil) Miller of Westerville, OH; and 15 grandchildren, Devin (Kellie), Braden, Colin and Ian Radcliff, Laura (Daniele Rossi) and Brian Fillenwarth, David and Julie Theibert, Jason (Alexandra), Corey, Doug and Megan Radcliff and Connor, Katie and Jen Miller. Memorial service will be held at Wesley Glen at 3 p.m. with family receiving friends at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20 and Riverside United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 24, 2014. The family will receive friends and family beginning at 1 p.m. with the service commencing at 2 p.m. No flowers, please.
