Wallace L. Rayburn Obituary
Rayburn Wallace L. "Wally" Rayburn, age 90, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2013. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on July 15, 1922 to the late Otis and Elizabeth (Hartman) Rayburn. Wally was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in WWII. He was a graduate of West High School and went on to earn his degrees from The Ohio State University. He was a teacher at Linden McKinley High School and Northland High School where he retired. In addition to his parents Wally was preceded in death by his sister Betty Iden. He is survived by his brother, William "Bill" (Rosemary) Rayburn; nieces, Cathy (Bill) Beamenderfer and Karen (Bob) Burns; nephew, Mark (Angela) Rayburn; great-nieces, Cheryl (Jamie) Cuckler, Jennifer (Shawn) McCann, and Elizabeth Burns; great-nephew, Robert Burns; great-great-nieces, Sarah Cuckler and Lauren McCann; great-great-nephews, James Cuckler and Colin McCann; and special friend, Phyllis Barrett. Wally was an avid golfer and enjoyed dancing at the local AMVETS. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 15, 2013 at 3 p.m. with visitation one hour prior at the SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 W. Broad St., Columbus. Inurnment will take place at Sunset Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Wally's memory may be made to the , 5555 Frantz Rd., Dublin, Ohio 43016.
