Wanda Moorman Kottman Obituary
Kottman Wanda Moorman Kottman, a resident of Friendship Village of Dublin, former longtime resident of Upper Arlington, passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2013. She was the widow of Roy M. Kottman, Vice-President Emeritus and Dean of the College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at The Ohio State University. She was also preceded in death by an infant son Paul Keith. She is survived by her brother, Robert Moorman of Ames, Iowa; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary (Mary) of Minneapolis, MN, Robert (Lynne) of San Antonio, TX, Wayne (Lori) of Hilliard, OH; and daughter, Janet Kottman of Mariposa, CA; grandchildren, Brian (Kathy) of Joliet, IL, Bill (Tracy) of San Antonio, TX and Vicki (Aaron) of Midland, TX, Noelle (John Oedy) of Lebanon, OH, Steve (Nicole) of Salisbury, MD, Yvette Kottman, mother of Brian, Noelle and Steve, Jennifer of Columbus, OH, Scott of Greenville, SC, Dan and David Gregory of Mariposa, CA; and ten great grandchildren. She was born in Chadron, NE and received her B.S. degree from Iowa State University in Ames, IA. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. From 1995 to 2002 she served as the Honorary Chair of the Student Scholarships and Leadership Initiative for the College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Science at OSU. She was past Honorary Chair of the OSU Agricultural Circle and of the Viola Thorne Club of the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center, Wooster. She served as lifelong president of the 1940 Danforth Girl Scholars, who were selected to represent each of the Land-Grant Universities in the U.S. for a month of leadership and personal development in St. Louis and Michigan. She was instrumental in organizing joint reunions of Danforth Girl and Boy scholars of 1940 periodically through the years, the most recent one in 1999 in Lansing, MI. she was a member of Mortar Board, Delta Delta Delta sorority, Phi Upsilon Omicron and Omicron Nu, Home Economics honoraries, PEO, DAR, Group "Y" of the OSU Mother's Club, the OSU Faculty Women's Club, OSU Agricultural Circle and the Viola Throne Club at the OSU Agricultural Research Center, Wooster, OH. She and her husband hosted People-to-People Goodwill tours to the People's Republic of China and also the Soviet Union and Europe. She served as a Red Cross volunteer with elderly, a volunteer in the inner-city schools, the emergency Food Delivery committee of the Covenant Presbyterian Church, and the Children's Hospital. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, Ohio 43221. A private family interment will take place at Union Cemetery.
