J. Randolph Balch Obituary
Balch J. Randolph Balch, age 62, of Bexley, died unexpectedly at his residence, on April 8, 2014 and went to be with his Lord. Preceded in death by parents Clyde and Mary Jo Balch. Survived by his loving wife, Jacintha; sons, James Randolph of Minneapolis, and Christopher Kraft of Bexley; brothers, Dr. Charles (Carol), of Ft. Worth, TX, and T. Stephen (Lyn), of Atlanta, GA; many nieces and nephews. Graduate of Wittenberg University with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry; Masters of Business Administration from Univ. of Toledo; Masters of Health Services Administration from Univ. of Michigan School of Public Health; The Ohio State Univ. College of Law in 1984. Attorney at Balch Law where he had over twenty-five years experience working in the area of heath care law, health care data and consulting, health care fraud, and health care ethics. His experience includes health care consulting experience with Mercer Consulting, a division of Marsh McLennan Companies. He was founder and President of Medical Management Group, Inc., a health care consulting and data corporation. Under his leadership, Medical Management Group published 24 nationally recognized data books, created a PPO which it later sold, and was recognized statewide for its physician and hospital fee expertise. Randolph has served as an adjunct professor and guest lecturer at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law teaching inter-professional medical and legal ethics. He has served as chairman of the Columbus Bar Association's Health Law Committee and chairman of the Ohio State Bar Association's Health Law Committee. He was an Administrative Fellow for Nationwide Children's Hospital from 1979-1980. He received the Leave a Legacy Award in1999 from Nationwide Children's Hospital. He was an Eagle Scout. Member of First Community Church, Whitehall-Bexley Rotary Club and often attended the Columbus Rotary and Upper Arlington Rotary clubs. He was most proud of his family and his faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. He loved to give stuffed animals to families at the Lutheran Social Services food pantry during the holidays. The family wishes to thank the Bexley Police Dept for all of their friendship over the years. Arrangements by SCHOEDINGER MIDTOWN CHAPEL, 229 East State St. Memorial service 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 11, at First Community Church, 1320 Cambridge Blvd., where family will receive friends from 12Noon-1:20 p.m. and following the service in Brownlee Hall. Dr. Richard Wing officiating. Inurnment Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay, OH at a later date. Contributions may be made to Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio Food Pantry, 500 W. Wilson Bridge Rd., Ste. 245, Worthington, Ohio 43085-2238; or Rafiki Children's Center at Marafiki Global Aids Ministry, c/o First Community Church, 1320 Cambridge Blvd, Columbus, OH 43212, in his memory.
