Duane W. " Dubby" Dettman, 90, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away at Golden Living Center-Dorchester on August 22, 2013. He was born August 30, 1922, in Sturgeon Bay to Herman and Martha (Bartle) Dettman. On June 21, 1947, he married Corrine Greisen at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, she preceded him in death on March 17, 1995.
Duane was a graduate of Sturgeon Bay High School in 1940 and played on the last state basketball tournament team that year. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Dubby was employed at Amity Leather and Sturgeon Bay Metal Products during his life.
He enjoyed music, played in several bands in the area and was a member of the Barber Shoppers. Duane was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his five children, Sandy (Roger) Anderson, Sturgeon Bay; Denny (Kathy) Dettman, Green Bay; Nancy (Larry) Graf, Debbie (Kirk) Caple, and Julie (Sheldon) Herbst, all of Sturgeon Bay; nine grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, Earl and Willard.
