Gary Robinson Obituary
Robinson, Gary Steven

Gary Steven Robinson, 74, departed from his life on September 7, 2013, in the small cozy town of Tekamah, Nebraska, with brother, Larry "Bud" Robinson at his bedside.

Born September 24,1938, in Plattsmouth, Nebraska to Roy and Helen Robinson, Gary played football on the Tekamah Tigers his senior year of high school and graduated from Tekamah Senior High School May 23,1956. Gary then enlisted into the United States Coast Guard September 4,1956 and served his country faithfully for 20 years, retiring October 1,1976, as Machinery Technician First Class at USCG Station Sturgeon Bay WI/Group Milwaukee, WI.

While in the middle of his enlistment, Gary fell in love with, and married Marie Young, March 19,1964 and together they had 4 children. Marie departed October 4, 1979. Gary was fortunate to meet, marry and blend families with Helen Caputo and her 5 children from a previous marriage, on June 18, 1988. Helen departed January 3, 1998.

After retiring from the USCG, Gary worked for Stearn Sailing Systems in Sturgeon Bay, WI as their Hydraulics System Manager.

When Stearn Sailing moved, he picked up work at Sailtec also in their hydraulic dept. He was also employed at N.E.W. Corvette Supply.

When Gary and Helen moved to Las Vegas, he found work at Universal Brass being responsible for all of the custom orders that came into the shop. When it came time to retire, Universal Brass knew they were losing a great employee and even offered to keep him on the payroll as a consult, to where Gary simply replied "Thanks but no. I am getting too old to keep waking up at 5 am"

Gary was always keeping busy, "Tinkering" and antique picking, whether rebuilding a old 1950s truck, building and making furniture, antique collecting, oil lamps, fishing, brain breaker jigsaw puzzles. His favorite T.V. shows were M.A.S.H, Bonanza, and anything with John Wayne. A favorite snack he enjoyed was fried chicken gizzards, which his kids also found yummy and nothing goes with that better than a "red beer"(beer with tomato juice) and don't forget the occasional smelt or chubs (all special treats).

Family meant a lot to Gary, which is why no matter where he was in the world, he would always find time to make it back home to Nebraska to visit the people he loved in that little town of Tekamah. Gary was full of stories and always had one of his experiences to share about fishing,or all his travels in the service, or all his good finds while treasure hunting antiques in garage sales. Gary's disappointments in life was the loss of his first child, Christopher Lee Robinson 1965.

Also preceding Gary in death would be his parents, Roy and Helen Robinson.

Gary is survived by his brother, Larry "Bud" (Carma), and sister, Judy and his own children, Tracy (Dave), Corey (Yvonne) and Nealy, as well as his late wife Helen's children, Frank, Danny, Helen, Louann, and Allyson (Lamont), as well as grandchildren, Tawni, Nadia, Jesse, Tricia, Arika, Alexis, Alissa, Amadeus, Trent, Jonah, Isaiah, Kiana, Michael, Megan, Alicia and Mitchell, great-grandchildren, Makensie, Addison, Seth, Hanna.

Memories will live strongly in all who knew him. We all have a whimsical, amusing, witty story about him we all can share and smile and laugh about.

A special thanks goes out to the doctors, nurses and staff of Golden Living Center Tekamah, Nebraska for his care over the last 3 years. Another special thanks goes to uncle Bud and Carma and family who helped in every way, along the way.

A private memorial services will be held by Pelan Funeral Services at a later date. Burial will be at Tekamah Cemetery with Military Honors. For online condolences please vist
