Pluff, Randy "Chopper' M.
Randy "Chopper" M. Pluff, 43, passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 21, after a 2 1/2 year battle with brain cancer.
Randy was born in Sturgeon Bay, to Clyde and Jane Pluff on Sept. 16, 1970. He was a lifelong resident of Baileys Harbor, and proud to call himself a Harbor Boy. Randy's love of the outdoors and nature started while growing up on the family farm. During his summers as a teenager he worked at Greenwood Supper Club, and enjoyed hanging out with friends at the Jacksonport beach.
Randy graduated from Gibraltar High School in 1989. He went on to continue his education, and graduated with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Landscape Technology from the University of Minnesota-Waseca. His first job after graduating was with Bridenhagen Tree and Landscape, where he remained working as a landscape foreman through 2012.
Randy was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Baileys Harbor. He had a passion for sports and outdoor recreation. He played basketball at both the high school and college levels. He played softball for the Cornerstone Pub, and also enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool, and recycling. He was an avid fan of the Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers, Dallas Cowboys, Wisconsin Badgers, and the North Carolina Tar Heels. He shared his love for basketball by coaching the youth of Gibraltar at various levels. He was honored to be able to coach both of his daughters. He loved watching his girls play any sport they competed in. He was always there to give them advice and support.
Randy is survived by his beloved wife of 17 years, Michele; daughters, Jordan and Payton; mother, Jane Pluff; brother, Tom Pluff; sisters, Lois Pluff, Jolynn (Scott) Reinhardt; nieces, Leah and Ashley; nephews, Nathan, Charlie, and Jack; father and mother-in-law, Dennis and Susan Bhirdo; sister-in-law, Denise Bhirdo, and many friends, family, and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his father Clyde; and infant twin siblings, David and Brenda.
The family wishes to thank all of those who reached out to help and support them. Driving Randy to radiation appointments, making meals, visiting with Randy, sending notes of encouragement, are just a few of the thoughtful things people have done. What they hold most dear is how so many people kept them in their thoughts and prayers. Special thanks to Pastor Sue Gunderson, the exceptional care provided by Martha and her staff at Hearthside, Unity Hospice, Dr. Phil Arnold, Doctors and staff at the NeuroSpine Center, Theda Clark, and the Bellin Cancer Team.
A visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 27, from 4 to 7 p.m., and a funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 28, at 11 a.m. with visitation from 10 to 11. All will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Baileys Harbor.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Randy M. Pluff memorial fund. The family is still undecided at this time as to what his memorial gifts will be going towards, but will make sure they are utilized to honor Randy and what he loved.
Randy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
