Tully, Dr. Richard E. "Dick'
Dr. Richard E."Dick" Tully, 90, Elkhorn, Wis., died peacefully, surrounded by his family on Friday, March 14. Dick was born on Jan. 29, 1924, son of the late James and Edna Tully and married M. Jean Campbell in Conneaut, Ohio in 1945. After graduating from The Ohio State University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 1951, Dick moved his family to Elkhorn, where he would spend the next 33 years as a veterinarian at the Elkhorn Veterinary Clinic. He was an active member of the Rock Valley, Wisconsin and American Veterinary Medical Associations and also held a seat on the Board of Directors of the State Bank of Elkhorn. After retiring from practice, Dick was able to focus on spending time with his grandchildren and his love of the outdoors and was most commonly seen on a golf course, chair lift or fishing boat. Dick was a consummate gentlemen who will be remembered for his kind and gentle nature, his love of family and his dry sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife Jean; two children, Dr. Rick Tully and Susan (Robert) Leibsle; six grandchildren, Dr. Scott (Amanda) Leibsle, Elizabeth Leibsle, Eric (Kelly Bergmann) Leibsle, Hillary (Matthew) Connelly, Julie (Mike Hanson) Tully, and Kate (Josh) Sherry; and one great-grandson, Finn Connelly. Dick is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, MaryLou Purtilo, and Nancy Neal.
A visitation was held for Dick from 9:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday March 18, 2014, at Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory, 730 N. Wisconsin Street, Elkhorn, Wis., followed by a memorial luncheon at Evergreen Golf Course in Elkhorn.
