Kramer, Willard William
The Guest Book is expired.
Willard William Kramer celebrated his 93rd birthday on April 15. Four days later on April 19, he celebrated his heavenly home-going. He was born to Melvin and Mabel Kramer in Liberty Grove, Wis. He attended Liberty Grove and Sister Bay grade schools. After graduating from Gibraltar High School, he attended Platteville State College. Returning to Sister Bay to carry on operations of the family farm with the outbreak of WWII, he lived the balance of his life in Door County. He married Clarissa Logerquist on October 28, 1946. In 1960, they began turning the dairy farm into a tourist destination by opening a drive-in restaurant and motel, and in 1966, adding Carole's Corral and Vacationland Farm Petting Zoo. He loved entertaining his "little customers", and especially his grandchildren, showing them how to feed baby animals and ride ponies, giving them hay rides in the summer, and sleigh rides in the winter.
He served on the Sister Bay school board, was a member and past president of the Sister Bay Lions Club, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Sister Bay.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Clarissa, eldest son, Randy, great-grandson, Grant Lucero, and special friend, Marge Larson. He is survived by his two sisters, Virginia Hanson and Verna Anderson, daughters, Carole (Robert) Shapiro, Kathy (Jim) Springer, Connie (Jim) Grotenhuis, son, Terry (Barb) Kramer, seven grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He moved from the farm on Highway 57 next door to the Meadows at Scandia Village, then Woodview, and finally, the Care Center. Everyone knew where Willard's room was as his polka music drifted into the hallways. In his later years his motto became, "Be patient, think positive, and believe in God."
Reflections from Zephaniah chapter 3 - "Do not fear, do not let your hands hang limp. The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take delight in you, He will quiet you with his love, He will rejoice over you with singing."
The family will be celebrating a Memorial Service on Sunday, July 13, 2014, at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Sister Bay with a fellowship luncheon to follow.
There will be a time of visitation form 2 p.m. until time of service at 3 p.m.
Interment will be at Little Sister Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Scandia Village or First Baptist Church of Sister Bay.
The family wishes to express thanks for all of the love, care, and respect shown to Dad while he was a resident at Scandia, and also to the many friends who treasured the man we called "Dad".
