Audrey Lorene Mittendorf, nee Hamilton, 92, Union, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014, in Union.|
Audrey, daughter of the late Charles Webster Hamilton and wife, Etta Estella, nee Barnes, was born Oct. 5, 1921, in Chilhawee. She spent her early life in Warrensburg and graduated from Warrensburg High School. She then attended and graduated from Central Missouri State University.
She was united in marriage to John H. Mittendorf in Warrensburg Aug. 23, 1949. They made their home there and moved to Union in 1961. She then moved to Springfield, Mo., in 1984 until 1997 before moving back to Union. Mrs. Mittendorf was an elementary school teacher teaching in Peculiar, Warrensburg, and Union. She was a longtime member of Valley of the Meramec Chapter, DAR and a member of Zion United Church of Christ Church, Union.
Audrey is survived by two daughters-in-law, Nancy Mittendorf and Lee Parks both of Union; four grandchildren, John Mittendorf, Jennifer Hope and husband Victor, and Nat Stanton, all of Union, and Joy Stormont of California state; sixgreat-grandchildren, Nicole Norton, Zack Mittendorf, Jake Mittendorf, Gabby Stanton-Fischer, Kaia Stormont, and Braxton Stormont; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Mittendorf, on May 6, 1995; her son, Larry G. Mittendorf; two brothers, Edwin W. Hamilton and Fredric Hamilton.
Visitation was held Thursday, June 26, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Oltmann Funeral Home, Union.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Mike Bone officiating.
Burial followed in Union Cemetery, Union.
The Mittendorf family was served by Oltmann Funeral Home, Union.
