Gerald Borgmeyer Obituary
Gerald Borgmeyer, 82, Union, passed away Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at his home in Union. Gerald, son of the late Fred Borgmeyer and wife Sabina, nee Luebbert, was born Oct. 31, 1931, in Argyle. He received his schooling in Argyle and Koeltztown. Gerald served his country in the U.S. Army, and fought in the Korean War from July 1952, until July 1954. He then served in the Army Reserves until August 1960. Gerald was united in marriage to Miss Viola Reinkemeyer Oct. 16, 1954, at Visitation Church, Vienna, Mo. They made their home in Vienna, Mo., and moved to Union in 1970.

Gerald worked as a truck driver for S & H Transportation and Beaufort Transfer, and retired from there in 1991. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Viola Borgmeyer, Union; one son, Kenneth Borgmeyer and wife Debra, Union; four daughters, Lorenda "Susie" Thacker and husband Joe, Ronda Reed and husband Brian, Linda Helm and husband Mark, all of Union, and Brenda Borgmeyer and Mark Szeszol, Leslie; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lillian Falter and husband Lawrence, Koeltztown, and Julia Ann Wilde and husband Jim, Freeburg; one brother, Ronald Borgmeyer and wife Alma, Koeltztown; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 1, at Oltmann Funeral Home, Union.

A funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Immaculate Conception Church, Union, with the Rev. Joe Post officiating.

Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Immaculate Conception School or the .
