Lorraine Maxine Bachelor, nee Putman, 83, Warrenton, passed away Monday, Sept. 23, 2013. |
She was born April 12, 1930, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of Donald Putman and wife Lucille, nee Taylor. Lorraine married Clyde A. Bachelor in Detroit July 22, 1950. Both Lorraine and Clyde accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior April 11, 1948, while attending high school at Houghton Lake, Mich., and were later married by the pastor who led them in that decision.
Lorraine was primarily a homemaker and the mother of two children. She worked at Fisher Body in Detroit prior to her marriage to Clyde, and at various jobs while traveling the country as an Air Force wife. Lorraine was a Girl Scout leader for over five years. She attended Michigan State University while working for the Michigan Office of Vocational Rehabilitation and Michigan Department of Agriculture. Lorraine moved to Warrenton in 1976. She was employed for a time as a purchasing agent for Child Evangelism Fellowship.
Lorraine and Clyde were instrumental in the organization of Grace Bible Church, along with others from Child Evangelism Fellowship in November 1976. A charter member of Grace, Lorraine served as a Sunday school teacher, served on various committees, and was instrumental in the organization of the church's outreach program.
She is survived by her husband, Clyde Bachelor; one daughter, Debbie Luecke and husband Kevin, Warrenton; one son, Richard Bachelor and wife Tracy, Courtland, Va.; five grandchildren, Kelsey, Dustin and Ethan Luecke., RuthAnn and Lori Diane Bachelor; two nephews, Donald and Dennis Putman, and one niece, Sheryl Nalley, who are the children of Lorraine's only sibling, Milford Putman, who passed away in 1994.
Visitation for Lorraine will be held Friday, Sept. 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home, Warrenton.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Sept. 28, at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home, with Pastor Mark H. Meyers officiating.
Interment will follow at Lippstadt Cemetery.
