Robert Lee Colegate, 72, Washington, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013, in Washington.|
Bob, son of the late Ocie Del Colegate and wife Ellen, nee Ryan, was born July 29, 1940, in St. Ann. He was united in marriage to Jane Maupin July 24, 1965, in Ste. Genevieve. They made their home in St. Louis County, moving to Illinois, later to Virginia Beach, Va., back to St. Louis, and finally to Washington in 1994. Bob worked as a college professor teaching psychology. He was a member of Missouri Hands.
Bob served his country in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962 and also the Army Reserves from 1978 to 1996. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and his master's degree and doctorate in psychology from the University of Illinois, Urbana.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Ocie Del and Ellen Colegate; and four siblings, David Colegate, William Colegate, Joe Colegate, and Francis Hirsch.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Colegate, Washington; one son, Bryan Colegate, St. Louis, two sisters, Ellen Dalton and husband Carl, Washington, and Rosalie Rasmussen and husband Robert, Houston, Mo.; one brother, Donald Colegate and wife Leah, Tipp City, Ohio; other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 1, at Oltmann Funeral Home, Washington, with the Rev. Chris Fox officiating.
Burial, with full military honors, was in Bethel Cemetery, Labadie.
