Viola Marie Fleener, 93, Jonesburg, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013, in Summit Villa.|
Viola was born July 26, 1919, on her farm in Jonesburg, the daughter of the late Charles Wencel and wife Louise Agusta, nee Fisher.
On Sept. 25, 1945, she was married at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Jonesburg, in the country, to William Lee Fleener.
Viola helped her father farm and then her husband until his death in 1961 when she took over full responsibility for the farm. She raised crops, hogs, chickens and cattle. Viola always took great pride in her gardens.
She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the ladies aid. Viola also was a member of the quilting group, which she took great enjoyment in, the VFW and American Legion auxiliaries.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Fleener; parents, Charles and Louise Wencel; and two sisters, Emma Hagen and Marie Edwards.
Viola is survived by her two sons, Donald Fleener and wife Cynthia, Jefferson City, and Ronald Fleener, Houston, Texas; two grandsons, Mathew and Ryan; two granddaughters, Maria and Ruby; other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 6, from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Jonesburg.
A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church.
Interment will be in Jonesburg City Cemetery, Jonesburg.
Memorials to St. Paul Lutheran Church, in care of Pitman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 126, Warrenton, MO 63383 are preferred.
