Alexander Tinto Kirkpatrick passed away in his sleep on October 16 with his wife and sons John and Alex at his side. Alexander was born in Glasgow, Scotland to John and Georgina Kirkpatrick. Moved to the United States at the age of 20. He joined the U.S. Army in 1960 and served 2 yrs. At Ft. Belvoir, VA. Alexander received his plumbers apprenticeship both in Scotland and in California. He owned and operated his own company until 1990. In 1990, he took over as the General Manager of the Oakland Scottish Rite Center.
Alexander is survived by his loving wife of 38 yrs Josephine, son John Kirkpatrick, daughter in law Christy. Sons Andrew Kirkpatrick of Oakland, CA and Alexander Kirkpatrick of Carson City, NV from a previous marriage. Grand Children Ian, Jillian & William. His Nieces Gillian McMeeking of Cumbernauld, Scotland and Lynne Gilchrist of Crawley, England and many nieces, nephews and cousins throughout the world. Alexander's sister Dorothea Lang (Kirkpatrick) preceded in death in 2007.
Aleaxander was very active in the Masonic Fraternity, joining Acorn Lodge #494 in 1981. Serving as Master of Acorn Lodge in 1986 and Live Oak Lodge #61 in 1990 & 1997. Also a member of O.D.R. Lodge #188 and several other lodges in the area. A founding member of Academia Lodge #847. Served the Grand Lodge of California as a Grand Officer in 1998. Joined Oakland Scottish Rite in 1983, served as Venerable Master in 1998. Received the KCCH in 1991 and 33 degree in 1997. Member of the Royal Order of Scotland. Received Honorary Legion of Honor from DeMolay International in 2011.
A Masonic Memorial Service will be held on November 8, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Oakland Masonic Center, 3903 Broadway, Oakland, CA 94611
