Chuck Veith, 87, of Dublin CA, was born in Riverside, CA and later moved to Palm Springs. He joined the Coast Guard during World War II, serving stateside until the war ended. He then joined the Naval Reserve, was called up to serve in the Korean War on a minesweeper, and continued in the Reserve until his 1987 retirement as Chief Warrant Officer.
After the war, Chuck worked for Shell Development in Emeryville, later moving to Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where he met and married Patricia Taylor, his wife of 53 years. He retired from the National Atmospheric Release Advisory Center at LLNL in 1990 after 30 years and enjoyed many years of retirement, traveling the world with family and friends, fishing with his buddies, serving in missions at Valley Community Church of Pleasanton, and supporting his children and grandchildren in all their endeavors.
Chuck is survived by his wife Pat of Dublin, brother Wendell (Barbara) Veith of Palm Springs, daughter Kitty (Steve) Madison of Livermore, son Chuck (Darlene) Veith of Manteca, granddaughters Katelyn Veith of Pendleton OR , Clara Madison of Livermore, and Jessica Veith (Shae) and great-grandson Brantley Nelson of Goldendale WA.
Internment was held at Golden Gate National Cemetery. A celebration of Chuck's life will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 14, Valley Community Church, 4455 Del Valle Parkway, Pleasanton CA. In lieu of flowers, please support the Valley Community Church Missions Ministry. The family appreciates the attentive care given by Kaiser Hospice and Comfort Keepers.
