DELLA DIBLEY passed away on April 3, 2014. Della was born and grew up on the family farm in Marion, South Dakota, and received her Bachelor's Degree from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota. Community service was important to Della. While she lived in Livermore (from 1963 through 1991), she was an active volunteer and held leadership positions in several organizations, including the Valley Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the League of Women Voters, the Livermore-Amador Symphony Guild, the Engineers Wives Auxiliary, and Shepherd's Gate, a shelter providing services to women and children who are homeless because of poverty, addiction, and domestic violence. She was also a Charter Member of the Las Positas Ladies Golf Club, a member of the American Association of University Women and the Philanthropic Educational Organization ("PEO"). Della was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church in Livermore, and the First United Methodist Church in Spearfish, South Dakota and in Tracy, California. Della was curious about the world and loved to travel. She traveled in Europe, she took a cruise through the Panama Canal and she traveled to Mali in West Africa. She also traveled throughout most of the fifty states and enjoyed visiting the National Parks.
Della is survived by her husband Leland, her daughter Allison of Concord, California, her son David and his partner Drew Monaghan of San Francisco, California, her son Michael, his wife Valerie and their sons Benjamin and Adam of Tracy, California, and her son Bruce and his partner Eve Baker of Concord, California and Eve's children Kristine and Evan of San Bruno, California. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Elma and Harry Gossen, and her brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and Delores Arbeiter, all of Marion, South Dakota. A memorial service will be held for Della on Friday, April 11 at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Tracy, California.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Della's name to any one of the following organizations: First United Methodist Church in Tracy, California, Shepherd's Gate in Livermore, California, or the breast cancer .
