Fred Stabell Resident of Fremont Fred passed away peacefully after a lingering cancer illness on July 24, 2014. Fred was born in Copenhagen, Denmark to parents Harald Stabehl & Yelva Petersen. He attended schools there and graduated with an accounting degree. He was a finance director for the City of Fremont from 1968-1986 and a member of the California Finance Officers Assn. After retirement, he served two terms on the Alameda County grand jury. He was past president of the Fremont Rotary Club, a founding member of the Mission San Jose Rotary Club, and a member of the retirement groups Cofare and Sirs. He enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, hiking and classical music. He leaves behind his wife, Esther of 60 years and children, Eric, Neil and Paula and 5 grandchildren and his sister, Else of Denmark. A private memorial service was held on August 3rd. We will miss his radiant smile and sense of humor.
