Heidi Wagner Obituary
Heidi Wagner
Resident of Walnut Creek
Heidi Wagner passed away at her residence in Tiffany Court Assisted Living on January 4, 2013. She was 102 years old. Heidi was born on a farm outside of Warren, Minnesota into a large and very Norwegian family. She was a graduate of St. Cloud State University in Minnesota and California State East Bay, Hayward Hills.
For more than 20 years Heidi was a book reviewer/presenter, giving lectures throughout the Walnut Creek area. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Walnut Creek and the Rossmoor Kiwanis. Heidi loved music and was an active supporter of the Diablo Symphony. She and her husband, John Wagner, who passed away in December of 1994, helped with fund-raising for the Lesher Center for the Arts. They were both passionate about music and the arts.
While living in Michigan Heidi was active in several hospital auxiliaries. She was a journal columnist and author of several auxiliary handbooks. She was the President of the Michigan Association of Hospital Auxiliaries. Heidi gave her time to help the blind and sponsored three young girls as part of the Big Brother, Big Sister program. She also loved Oakland Athletics baseball. The Wagners were season ticket holders for many years and travelled to their spring training camp several times. She anxiously awaited the start of each new baseball season. Let's go A's!
John and Heidi both worked for General Motors and met at the GM office in San Francisco. Their first date was a Stanford football game. They were married in 1948 and travelled throughout their lives together visiting Europe, China, and Mexico as well as most states of the USA.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church in Walnut Creek on March 23, 2013 at 2pm.
Memorial gifts may be given to Grace Presbyterian Church in Walnut Creek or any Music or Educational scholarship fund.
