Herman G. Dobbel Feb. 19, 1931 - Mar. 24, 2014 Resident of Livermore Herman G. Dobbel, 83, a lifelong resident of Livermore, CA, passed away peacefully at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Marty, on March 24th, 2014. Born to the late Paul and Eva Dobbel on Feb. 19, 1931, Herman grew up in Calaveras Canyon with four brothers; Raymond, Robert, George, and John, and one sister; Ann. Herman is a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War, was wounded in action, and awarded the Purple Heart. After the war He married his sweetheart, Elizabeth S. Armstrong of Livermore on Nov. 20, 1954, with whom he shared his life and love for over 51 years before her death in 2005. Herman worked at United State Steel in Union City for nearly 20 years, and Silver Metals in Livermore for another 20 years before retiring in 1996. He was a long time member of Las Positas Men's Golf Club, and in addition to golf, He enjoyed travel, gardening, long walks, watching the 49ers win, and mostly, he loved to spend time with his family. Herman is survived by three daughters: Carol Fulton and spouse Kelley, of Roseville, CA; Laura Maes and spouse Marty; and Donna Brandt and spouse Jeff, of Manteca, CA; He is survived by six grandchildren: Melanie Kutsenda and spouse Jason, Fred Guetterman and spouse Junko, Janine Holmes and spouse Scott, Erin Maes, Kevin Guetterman, and Alex Fulton; six great-grandchildren; Cassandra, Joseph, Joshua, Nathan, Trapper, and Tanner; and several nieces, nephews, brothers, sister, and sisters-in-law. He is further survived by three very dear great nieces; Mackenzie, Megan, and Madison Miller. P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Dobbel family. Visitation will be on Fri., March 28th, 2014 1pm to 5pm held at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home 290 N. Union Rd. Manteca, CA. A Prayer service will be held on Sat., March 29, 2014 at 11am also held at P.L. Fry & Son Chapel.
