Jerry Arthur Johnson Obituary
Jerry Arthur Johnson
May 15, 1928-August 11, 2014
Resident of Fremont
Jerry Johnson passed away after a five year struggle. Though he suffered, his only thought was for the well-being of his family.
Jerry was born in Oakland 7 minutes after his identical twin brother Terry. As a God Fearing man, he passed his Christianity down to his children. He graduated from Castlemont High School in 1947. Jerry served two years active duty in the US Army as a medic during the Korean War, stationed 1 mile away from enemy lines. He was well decorated, receiving his Honorable Discharge in June of 1958.
In 1957 Jerry married Evelyn Frances Lyon. At the time, Terry was to marry Evelyn's younger sister, Barbara Jean, so they made it a double wedding. Jerry had an enjoyable career with AC Transit. Proud of his accomplishments, he retired in 1991 with full benefits. Jerry and Terry enjoyed working on cars and entertaining their children with their acrobatic talents. Jerry loved flying airplanes, taking his family to watch the Blue Angels, and going camping with his family.
Jerry is survived by his wife Evelyn; his children Daniel, Anna, Jerry, and Joyce; his grandchildren Sasha, Stephen, Jessica, Thomas, Matthew, and Amanda; and his great-grandchildren Daniel and Madison. Jerry is also survived by his brother Terry Wheeler and Edward Warren. He will be missed greatly by his family.
Graveside services will be held on Monday August 18, 2014 at 11:30am, at Oakmont Memorial Park in Lafayette.
