Obituary Condolences

Lois Jane Wahle
March 15, 1936 - January 19, 2014
Resident of Oakland
Lois Jane Wahle of Oakland, California passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at the age of 77. She was born on March, 15, 1936 and was a long time resident of Oakland, having moved here from Michigan in 1958. She spent her youth in the suburbs of Detroit and attended Mumford High School. She then attended Michigan State University and graduated with a degree in liberal arts. Lois was an artist and teacher, creating beautiful stained glass windows and decorations and teaching art classes. Wishing to share her love of reading and instill that love in others, she volunteered her time helping elementary school children to read. She was active in the local "Lois Club" and spent a great deal of time organizing events for them as well as attending the national "Lois Conventions." She loved to travel and wasn't ashamed to let her quirky side show. She will be missed walking down Piedmont Avenue in one of her many "colorful" hats. Lois is survived by her two children, Andrew David Harris and Julie Beth Harris, her three grandchildren, Zachary Spenser Maurice Harris, Jacob Matthew Cotton and Angus James Cotton and her sister and brother-in-law Barbara (Manheim) and Harold Nimchonok, niece Nancy Farris and nephew Robert Charns. A celebration of her life will be held in the spring.
