Richard M. Kendrick Obituary
Richard M. Kendrick
Resident of Vacaville
We lost another of our WWII warriors Wednesday, July 30, 2014 in Concord at the age of 91. Richard M. Kendrick was born June 1, 1923 in Spokane, WA; the oldest of four children born to Richard and Eva Kendrick.
He proudly served in WWII as the radar operator for the 51st Troop Carrier Squadron, stationed in North Africa. He met Dorothy Cofflin at the Peach Tree Café in Atlanta, GA while on leave and married Dorothy after the war in 1945. Richard was an Eagle Scout, earned an AA degree from a local junior college and worked for 42 years with PG&E as a computer programmer. He enjoyed camping, fishing, model trains, stamp collecting, trips to Cache Creek and telling stories of his adventures during WWII.
Richard is survived by his son John (Ann), daughter Pamela Deaton (Dale); brother Robert; grandchildren Eric, Courtney, Lori, Megan, Michael, Philip and Sarah; great grandchildren Brandon, Brooklyn, Tiara and Devin. Richard was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, brother William; sister Ruth and grandson Ryan. He had many friends, including his neighbor, longtime companion and gambling partner, Marie Barner.
He was a fine gentleman and great role model as a husband, father and grandfather. He made the world a better place for all who knew him.
Services will be private.
