Resident of Danville
William passed away peacefully at the age of 91 in Danville where he had lived for 35 years with his loving wife Margaret. He was a descendant of George Taylor, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Bill was born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas and graduated from Sewanee Military Academy and Northwestern University. After serving his country in WW II, he married Margaret Fulkerson of Little Rock and had a full career as a chemical engineer. They lived in Houston, New York, Saudi Arabia, Europe, and Venezuela before moving to California in 1967. Bill and Margaret raised a daughter, Georgia, and a son, Bill. He was an excellent sailor and sailed his own boat from New Orleans to Venezuela with his brother Jack, as well as crewing on other boats for trips to Hawaii. He played golf, tennis, and bridge. A true intellectual, he had a lifelong love of history and traveled throughout Europe and the Middle East pursuing that interest. He also loved the English language and was skilled in its use. Bill wrote and self published "Long Ago Stories" for his granddaughters, Ellen and Kate, a retelling of the Iliad and Odyssey for children. He believed he "lived in good times". He will be missed and remembered as a true Southern gentleman.
At his request, he will be buried at the Veterans Cemetery at Dixon in a private ceremony.
