Bessie Goldstick
October 14, 1916 – April 1, 2014
Edmonton lost "a woman of valour" when Bessie passed away, at the age of 97. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a devoted wife and worked together for many years with her husband Abraham Goldstick in their clothing store in Edson. Bessie was a charter member of the Edson Hospital Auxiliary.
Bessie and her family moved to Edmonton in 1967, and she became very active in community work. She worked as a realtor and devoted many years to raising funds for the Realtors Charitable Foundation. She was active with the Edmonton Host Lions, Interfaith, Canadian Club and an Honorary member of the Rotary Club. Bessie was a member of the Daughters of Eastern Star and was a lifetime member of the Liberal Party of Canada. She enjoyed serving lunch at the Bissell Centre and Sacred Heart Church. Bessie attended the Beth Shalom synagogue regularly and was a member of their women's league.
Bessie's zest for life will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her children Miles (Susanne), Eleanor, and Harold (Anne), son-in-law Barry, nine grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Friday, April 4, 2014 at Cherva Kadisha Chesed Shel Emeth at 2:30pm. The family requests that flowers not be sent, but instead to make a donation to a charity.
