1928 - 2013
Beloved husband to Margarete, loving father to Joanne (Robert) and Nikola. Grandfather to Reaghan, Clayton (Sheila), Neal (Laura) and Paige. He is survived by his brother Glen (Ruth) of Keremeos and many nieces and nephews. Bruce was predeceased by his parents Roy and Iris of Victoria, his sisters Audrey Carpenter and Lois Dunlop.
Bruce was a lover of books especially on the topics of Wildlife and Naval history. Born in Dauphine, Manitoba he joined the Navy at a very early age as a Leading Seaman and rose to the rank of Lt. Commander as a commissioned officer. He travelled the globe throughout his naval career and in his retirement carried on this passion. In his final years in the Navy he studied at Dalhousie University and graduated with B.Sc. with a focus on Biology. He went on to study at Acadia University.
Bruce was an avid birdwatcher and when in doubt you could always have your questions answered on this subject. He and Margarete travelled to many locals on the globe to feed his passion of bird watching. He was an accomplished photographer with an eye for a perfect shot.
No service will be held at Bruce's request. Cremation has taken place. His immediate family will have a private gathering in his honour. He will be forever in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Edmonton Humane Society, 13620 - 163 Street, Edmonton, AB T5V 0B2.
