It is with sad hearts that we announce that our beloved Dad and Grampa, Erskine Forrest Bogle of Lac St. Anne, Alberta passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Auxiliary Hospital on March 2, 2014 in Edmonton, Alberta.
Born January 10, 1927 in Peebles, Scotland, Esky grew up in Scotland, served with the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders and was stationed in Austria at the end of WWII. He emigrated along with fellow school mates Bert and Andy to Canada in 1952 where they worked as stone masons (or brickies) and ultimately met and married the love of his life, Hazel. Together they built their little brick house and greenhouse and settled in Alberta Beach and enjoyed many happy years surrounded by their friends and close community.
Esky is predeceased by his parents, Erskine and Helen (Wee Nell), sister Isla, brother-in-law Doc and is welcomed into the waiting arms of his loving wife Hazel. He leaves to mourn his brother Willy (Chrissy), sisters Joy (Dan) and Ella and numerous nieces and nephews in Scotland. He also leaves to mourn his children Vicki (Dale), Judy (Herb) and Gregg (Monika), grandchildren Christine (Keith), Marney (Albert), JoDee (Chris), Heidi, David (Edna), Greg (Chanel), Katie (Jarred) and 14 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Esky's Life will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the Alberta Beach Senior's Centre at 2:00 p.m.
We wish to extend our thanks to all of the staff at St. Joe's for their wonderful care, comfort and loving support that they gave Esky during his stay. Donations in Esky's memory may be made to St. Joseph's Auxiliary Hospital Foundation, 10707 – 29 Avenue N.W., Edmonton, AB, T6J 6W1.
