ROMALO, Shirley Aileen
February 5, 1931 - May 2, 2013
It is with heavy hearts that our family announces her peaceful passing after a long illness, aged 82. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Nicholas Romalo; her children David, Jane (Ben) and Jonathan (Heather); granddaughter Natasha; grandsons Alexander and Matthew; her sister Michele Guest, and extended family. Predeceased by her sister Bonnie and brother Ridley; and her parents Norman and Jenni Shaw. Shirley was born in Calgary and attended Western Canada High School. She worked as a legal secretary, legislature reporter and library assistant, and later attended the University of Alberta. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1989 and then worked as a reference librarian at the Edmonton Public Library until her retirement in 2001. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held at a future date, to be announced. The family would like to thank the staff at Jasper Place Continuing Care Centre for providing a caring and supportive environment, as well as Shirley's dedicated in-home caregivers. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta and NWT, 10531 Kingsway Avenue, Edmonton, T5H 4K1.
