1944 MVP AUSTIN HIGH SCHOOLGeorge David Wardy January 28, 1927 - July 6, 2013 George David Wardy resided in Cypress, CA and passed away on July 6, 2013. He was born and raised in El Paso, TX graduating with honors from Austin High School in 1945. George was a star athlete in high school and took his football skills to Texas Western College (known now as UTEP) on a football scholarship. He received his BA degree in 1950. Before attending college, George served in the United States Marines during WWII receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1946. George then moved to CA where he lived until his death. He spent his entire career in sales, mainly working for Star-Kist Tuna in Sales Management. First in San Jose, CA and then in Long Beach, CA; retiring in 1988. While at Star-Kist, George took great pride calling on the White House, one of his favorite accounts, from which he received an annual Christmas card. George took an early retirement which allowed him to travel all over the world, primarily on cruises, which he loved. He is survived by his seven loving children, Janith, Susan, Kathy, David, Diane (Kevin), Jim (Anouschka) and Margaret (Bill). Adored grandpa to his twelve grandchildren David, John, Michael, Christopher, Scott, Jeffrey, Raime, Nash, Kelly, Blake, Dani, and Owen. Survived by his sister Georgette Hammond of Poland, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews. Beloved son of the late Daher Abraham Wardy and Jane Rhamey Wardy. Three brothers and three sisters predeceased George. Private services have already been held.
