Obituary Condolences

Herman Albert Gramlich Jr., MSG (Retired US Army) aka: "SARGE" cherished husband, father, grandfather and friend entered into rest on January 16, 2013 at the age of 82 in El Paso, TX. He was born June 9th, 1930 in Highland, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents Herman Albert Gramlich Sr. and Alma Olivia Gramlich of Highland, IL. and sister Marie Gephart of Crestview Hills, KY. He proudly served his country in the US Army for 30 years. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal with OLC, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Occupation Medal (Germany), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, RVN Gallantry Cross with palms, GS Medal 10th award and the Army Presidential Unit Citation for his service in Vietnam. He received an honorable discharge on March 31, 1978. He was a lifelong member and past President of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 25 and a lifelong member of the Veterans Foreign War Post 8919. He is remembered for his joy in making people laugh, his patriotism, his willingness to help others and his ability to make friends. No one was ever a stranger to him. He is survived by his wife Renate, son Bruce Gramlich and his wife Alicia of El Paso; daughter Cheryl Toub and her husband David of Gurnee, IL; daughter Tina Hager and her husband Glenn of Parker, CO. and 3 beloved grandchildren; Shane and Nicolette Toub and Sherie Gramlich. Visitation is Tuesday, January 22nd 5:00 - 9:00pm, including a eulogy at 7:00pm at Del Angel Kaster Maxson & Futrell funeral home 8817 Dyer St. He is being laid to rest with full military honors on Wednesday, January 23rd, 10:30am at the Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Disabled American Veterans Chapter 25, 325 Poloma Blanca Dr. Chaparral, NM 88081or El Paso Texas Flags Across America (EPTFAA), P.O.
