Kenneth Hubert Rule, former General Manager and President of Gillette Mexico, passed away on October 1, 2013 in Miami, Florida. He was 68. Born in Carlsbad, New Mexico, on November 18, 1944, to Charles and Refugio Isabel Rule. He was the loving husband of Sandra Lynn Rule; father of Charles (Laurie) Rule, Lance (Erica) Rule and was preceded in death by his daughter Tracy Summer Rule. He was the cherished granddaddy of Amanda, Emily, Jared, Sabrina and Mason Rule. Ken graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1967, where he was an active member of SAE, and went on to receive his M.B.A. at the Thunderbird School of Global Management in 1968. He married his college sweetheart Sandy in 1968. Together they embarked on a fantastic professional and personal journey that took their family to live and work in Costa Rica, Guatemala, Peru, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Mexico, Brazil and Argentina before retiring in 1997 to The Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, Florida. Ken began his career with the Gillette Company as a management trainee and had little trouble rising through the ranks as he assumed greater responsibility in sales, marketing and general management roles for Gillette's various Latin American subsidiaries. By 1991, he was appointed General Manager and President of Gillette's largest Latin American business in Mexico. On top of juggling his work at Gillette and the love for his family, Ken was an avid golfer, with 3 hole-in-ones to his name. His name also remains on the walls of many of his favorite golf courses in both the U.S. and across Latin America as a "Club Champion". After retiring, Ken continued his love for his sport as a member of both The Ocean Reef Club and Card Sound Golf Club in Key Largo, FL, where he also enjoyed fly-fishing the South Florida flats. Along with his wife, children and grandchildren, Ken is survived by his sisters, Charlene Wilkinson, of Van Nuys, CA; Gladys Taylor of Gainesville, MO; Cynthia (Bill) Walters of Mabank, TX; Alice Hayes of El Paso, TX; Elizabeth (Steve) Caldwell of El Paso, TX; and many beloved nieces and nephews. "He had a brilliant career; he served on our school boards; he loved to entertain; and he loved golf, but his friends and family were always the most important", said his two sons. He lived a full and meaningful life and will be deeply missed by family and friends. Friends and family are invited to the Visitation on Friday, October 11th from 5 to 7 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home West, 128 N. Resler Dr., and to the funeral mass on Saturday, October 12th at 10 a.m. at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 400 W Sunset Rd. The burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 8700 Dyer.
