Anthony T. Adams, age 82, passed away peacefully Friday morning July 12, 2013 at the Erie Soldiers and Sailors home. A resident of Erie since 1962, he was born March 31, 1931 in Johnsonburg, Pa.

He graduated from Johnsonburg High School in 1949 where he was an outstanding Basketball player. Tony also played football for the Johnsonburg Shamrocks and basketball and softball for the Merchants. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Signal Corp during the Korean War. He resided in the Erie Soldiers and Sailors Home for the past several years. He owned Adams Atlantic Service in the 1960s and later worked at Interlake Iron and then the Hammermill Paper Company for over 30 years until he retired. Tony was a lifelong Pirates and Steelers fan and always was an avid sports fan. He coached Erie Boys Baseball at the Hammermill Field for years and played on a number of local softball teams. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Erich Spence Adams; and his parents William and Joanna Adams; his brother William Adams; and his sisters, Philomena Miller, Dolores Veneziano and Joanna Adams.

He is survived by his daughter, Jane Kosobucki Cilladi and her husband Joe of Erie; his grandchildren, Faith Hare and her husband Will, Nick Kosobucki and his wife Christyn; his great-grandchildren, Lexy, Aiden and Avery; and a brother Fred Adams and his wife Shirley of Erie; along with many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Mark G. Razanauskas Funeral Home, 701 East Avenue, Erie, Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Burial will be private at a later date. The family respectfully declines any cut flower arrangements, but will accept any garden plants as per Tony's request.
