Charles Henderson Baker, age 76, of Cleveland, Ohio, formerly of Erie, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Harborside Healthcare Center in Cleveland. He was born in Laurel, Miss. on September 21, 1936, son of the late Johnie Baker and Shirley Brown Baker. He moved to Erie as a young child with his parents. He graduated from Academy High School where he was the State Champion in the 100 yard dash and attended Edinboro University. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. After completion of his military duty, he moved to Cleveland where he worked as a Bank Clerk for Key Bank from which he retired after 30 years of service. Charles enjoyed track and field events, fishing and spending time with his girlfriend. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Willie L. Baker. He leaves to cherish his memory his girlfriend, Gwendolyn Scott of Cleveland, Ohio; two brothers, Barry Baker of Erie and Art Baker; and nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, February 27, from 4 to 8 p.m., at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 155 E. 21st St., and may attend a service at the church on Thursday, 11 a.m., with Pastor Parris J. Baker officiating. Interment in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Funeralization of House of Law Inc., Penn Hills, Pa.
