Charles Joseph Piazza, age 87, of North East, formerly of Ripley, N.Y., died Saturday, November 16, 2013 at his residence .

Charles was born January 1, 1926 in Phillipsburgh, New Jersey to the late Salvatore and Rosina Frankina Piazza.

He was a member of St. Gregory Church in North East, attended school in Pa., a veteran of the Korean War where he served in the U.S. Army, where he received Korean Service Metal and 3 Bronze Stars. Charles formerly was employed with Russell Sinden's Grape Farm and the PA Railroad. He loved being with his children, grandchildren, and enjoyed hunting, farming, antiques, and showing Belgians.

He was preceded in death besides his parents, brothers, Christopher Piazza 5-2-86, Columbus Piazza 3-15-10; sisters Virginia Fletcher 11-6-74 and Concetta Conn 4-14-07; brothers-in-law, Tom Tartarella and Acy Evans; sister-in-law, Rosaline Conn; brother-in-law, David Bagley; mother and father-in-law, Cray and Caroline Bagley.

Charles is survived by his wife, Ramona Bagley Piazza of 51 years; married November 12, 1962 in Allen Town, N.J.; sons, Salvatore (Sam) Piazza and Cray Piazza; daughters, Caroline (Doug) Mulson, Deanna (Glenn) Leamer; grandchildren, Jacqueline Mulson, Jeremiah Mulson, Hannah Leamer, Leanna Leamer, Gregory Leamer, Alaina Piazza, Kyle Piazza, Cody Piazza, and Anthony Piazza; one great-granddaughter, Sophia; brothers, Floyd (Janice) Piazza, John Piazza and Frank Piazza; sisters Mary (Rexford) Dimperio, Francis Evans, Mabel (John) Skelly, Adriena Piazza, and Evelyn Tartarella; sister-in-law, Jean Rogers; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake St., North East on Monday 2-5 and 7-9 and are invited to attend prayer services on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Gregory Church. Interment St. Gregory Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials may be made to the Community Nursing Services of North East, 7 Park St., North East, PA 16428.
