He loved spending time with his grandchildren, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and pleasure boating.

Daniel was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. He was an avid boater, and loved Lake Erie and all that it had to offer. He was a two-time Commodore of the Presque Isle Yacht Club, and a member of the Erie Yacht Club, the International Order of the Blue Gavel, the American Legion, and a lifetime member of the Erie Maennerchor Club.
