Darrell Kierzek, 55, beloved father, brother, son, and uncle, passed away peacefully, surrounded by those who loved him, at Durham Veteran's Affairs Medical Center, on July 14, 2014.

He served his country and community as a Marine and later as a police officer.

He was equally as dedicated to running as he was to his work. Darrell competed in numerous marathons throughout his life, and left behind many trophies to represent his passion. As with everything else in life, he liked to explore, which explains his love for traveling across the country on his motorcycle.

He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Kierzek; his companion, Sheila Howard; his brothers, Kenneth and David Kierzek and their wives, Theresa and Patty; his sister, Renee (Otteni) and her husband, John. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews: Anthony and Nicole, Daniel and Amy (Ash), Dale, Richard, Kevin and Kristen (McKissick); and his beloved pet, Troyka.

He was preceded in death by his parents, "Tuffy" and Virginia Kierzek.

Military honors will be conducted by Erie Crawford County Veterans Burial Detail and Honor Guard, at St. Stan's Catholic Church, on Saturday, August 2nd, at 1 p.m.
