DonnaLee Free Hicks, age 52, beloved youngest daughter of Lloyd and Marilyn Hollenbeck Free of Edinboro, Pa., died peacefully at her home, 31851 State Highway # 77, Townville, Pa., on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, after an extended illness. DonnaLee was born on July 29, 1961 in Erie, Pa. She was a graduate of General McLane High School, with the Class of 1979, and Edinboro University in 1983. DonnaLee was a retired elementary school teacher and tutor, having taught for the Aldine I.S.D. of Houston, Texas. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, horticulture, husbandry, and faithfully attended the Texas Renaissance Festival every year.

Surviving DonnaLee, in addition to her husband - Harry P. Hicks, whom she married April 15,1995, and her parents - Lloyd and Marilyn Free of Edinboro, are two daughters - Savannah Myst Hicks and Arilyn Porter Hicks, both living at home; a stepsister - Rose Ann Hicks Acel of San Antonio, Texas; a brother - William Leroy Free of Cambridge Springs; and a sister Rita Lutz of Edinboro.

To know DonnaLee was to love her and she will be sorely missed by her sister-in-law, several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and many cousins and friends.

Friends and family are invited to a gathering to be held at the church of her childhood - First United Presbyterian Church of Edinboro, 4281 Route 6N East, Edinboro, Pa., on Saturday, January 18th from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions will be gratefully accepted, in care of Harry Hicks, to be placed in trust for Savannah and Arilyn.

DonnaLee was an awesome person, exhibiting incredible courage and strength during her more than nine years of war against breast cancer.
