Dorothy Tuttle DeWolf, age 95 of Knoxville, Tennessee, formerly of Erie, Pennsylvania, passed away Friday, March 1, 2013 at Little Creek Sanitarium. Dottie was born in Urbana, Ill. on July 26, 1917. She lived in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Florida before moving to Knoxville to be near family in 2004. Dottie graduated from University of Illinois in 1939 with a degree in history and from La Salle Extension University with a degree in accounting. She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Dottie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a lifelong learner and had a zest for life. A nurturer by nature she enjoyed cooking, gardening, yoga, and caring for animals. She had a special fondness for cats. Owing to her accounting skills she was treasurer for many volunteer organizations. Predeceased by her husband, Frank T. DeWolf, to whom she was married for 57 years; her mother, Beulah Best Tuttle, and her father, George Phillip Tuttle. She is survived by her sister, Barbara Tuttle Wilson; her son, J. Barton DeWolf and his wife, Lucy, and grandson, Michael B. DeWolf; her daughter, Carol DeWolf Helsel and her husband Dick; grandson Brett E. Helsel and his wife Lisa, and great-grandchildren, Erin and Kate Helsel; and granddaughter, Julie Helsel Mawhorter and her husband, Ben Mawhorter. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the caregivers at Atria Weston Place and Little Creek Sanitarium for their excellent care and compassion throughout Dottie's final years.
