Frank M. Oaks, age 78, of Erie, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014. He was born in Jackson, Ky., on May 11, 1936, son of the late Chester and Marie Oaks.

Frank was a Master Union Plasterer, working on many area construction projects. He was very talented and did much of the finer work in area churches, doctor's offices, and the Erie Zoo. Frank was a member of the Fulton Club, Slovak Club and American Legion Post 11. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army.

Frank is survived by his wife, Violet Plyler Oaks; three sons, Frank W. Oaks, Michael R. Oaks, Gary A. Oaks (Kimberly); one daughter, Mary Ann Oaks Gillett; his stepmother, Joyce Oaks; four stepsons, Larry Plyler (Sandi), Timothy Plyler (Pam), Brian Plyler (Diane), Darrel Plyler (Patty); three brothers, Sam Oaks (Mary), John Drake (Dorothy), Joe Oaks (Rhonda); four sisters, Linda Blake, Kimberly Swope (Joel) and twins, Dixie and Barbara. He is further survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by three children; Sherry G., Gerald L. and Kenneth C. Oaks; one stepson, Craig Plyler; two brothers, Milton and Randy; and one sister, Shirley.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., 2607 Buffalo Rd., Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Saturday at 10 a.m., conducted by Rev. David Edmunds. Full military honors will follow at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery, rendered by VFW Post 470. Memorial contributions may be made to Second Harvest Foodbank of NW PA, 1507 Grimm Dr., Erie, PA 16501.
