Greg V. Carson, age 62, of Greene Twp., died unexpectedly in his sleep at home, on Tuesday, December 31, 2013. He was born in Erie on September 4, 1951, a son of the late Raymond Carson and June Ferrone Carson.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart, Peggy (Margaret) Carson, whom he married on November 15, 1971, their children, Ryan Carson and Elena Carson Arnold and her husband Mike, all of Erie; grandchildren, Caleb and Owen Carson; his siblings, Rosalind Parneix and her husband Guy of Palm Coast, Fla., Gary Carson of Aguascalientes, MX, Vicki Carson of Erie, Grant Carson and his wife Gina of Erie (Children, Sid and Garrett) and Judy Schafer of Wayland, N.Y. Greg is further survived by his sister-in-law, Neilee Barber and her husband Matt of Erie (Children, Seth, Lenea and Zoie) and brother-in-law, Darrin Irwin and his wife Tia of Erie (Son, John).

Greg graduated from Academy High School, and proudly served his country as a Sargent in the United States Army during Vietnam; Co. B, 4th Battalion, 21st Infantry, 11 Brigade of the Americal Division. He was a member of the NRA and Disabled Veterans of America. He enjoyed gardening and spending time at home with his wife, Peggy and black lab, Baxter. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren. Greg also had a life-long love for hunting and fishing.

Funeral services are private and being held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the care of the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, PA 16504.
