Harold Kay Holmes, age 79, of Erie, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2013 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was born in Erie on January 4, 1934, son of the late Homer and Myra Holmes.

Harold served in the U.S. Army from 1956 thru 1958. He was a former employee of Electric Materials Company for 35 years, and ACL for 16years. Harold was a director and former auditor, vice president and president of the Siebenbuerger Club; a lifetime member of the NRA; a member ofthe North East Moose Club, Polish Falcons, Pulaski, North East Lodge #399, F&AM and Northern Masonic Jurisdiction – Member of the Valley Erie. Harold served as an Off Ice Official for the Mercyhurst Men's Hockey team and formerly served as an Off Ice Official for the Erie Blades/Erie Otters. Harold loved fishing and hunting with his son (Gene) and grandsons (Josh and Jake).

Harold is survived by his wife, Shirley Holmes, whom he married on November 1, 1958; one son, Gene Holmes (Sandy); one daughter, Melody Vogel (Gail Shaw); one brother, Bernard Holmes; four grandchildren, Josh Vogel (Sara), Jacob Vogel (Brooke), Kristen Weaver (Phillip) and Kasey Rizzo (Josh); four great-grandchildren, Caiden, Brooklyn, Brayden and Lukas; and nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by one sister, Helene Holmes.

Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road, on Sunday from 2 to 7 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service there on Monday at 11 a.m. conducted by Rev.
