James J. Riddle, 63, of Erie, died Friday January 4, 2013 at UPMC Hamot following a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Erie he was born April 1, 1949 a son of the late Clifford and Isabel Decker Riddle. James served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and went on to work for Verizon for 36 years before retiring in 2009. He enjoyed woodworking, country music, and going to the casino. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, William and John Riddle. Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Laurie O'Connell Riddle; one son, Jeremiah Skenderski and his wife Marie of Erie; one daughter, Beth Mumau and her husband Allen of Erie; two sisters, Joan Mary Wolf and her husband James and Audrey Bukowski and her husband Gerald, all of Erie; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Road, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.. A memorial service will be held at a future date.
