Hoenes, Jr., age 87, beloved husband of Elizabeth (nee Johnston); loving father of Nancy Keis (William), Susan Dezort, Bridget Hoenes, Peggy Winger (John) and Patty Blanchong (David); dear grandfather of John (Lisa), Peggy (Anthony); Kelsey, Betsy; Erin, Jacob; Grace , Emma and Madison; great grandfather of Aiden; brother of James Hoenes, JoAnne Rodgers, Lawrence Hoenes (deceased) and Agnes Repoff; brother-in-law of Mary Jane Steimer and James Johnston; son of the late John J. Sr. and Lenore Hoenes. Passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013. Jack's greatest treasure in life was his wife Betty of 56 years. They were blessed with five girls that adored and worshiped their devoted father. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy
submarine service in both WWII
and the Korean War
. He was an active member of the U.S. Submarine Veterans of World War II and USS Cod Sub Vets. Retired from Conrail in 1988 as a Chief Train Dispatcher after many years of service. Jack was an avid golfer, enjoying his last outing with his grandchildren just days before his death. He was most proud of his hole-in-one at Bob-a-Links at age 73 in 1999. Jack loved to take photographs - every life event, big or small, merited a photo. He is eternally grateful to his dear friend, and brother in Christ, Fr. Tim Gareau. Funeral Mass Monday, July 8, St. Raphael Church 525 Dover Center Rd. at 10:30 am (Please meet at church). Interment Holy Trinity Cemetery, Avon. Friends may call in the McGorray-Hanna Funeral Home of Westlake, 25620 Center Ridge Rd. (west of Columbia) Sunday 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the St. Raphael Church Building Fund or Hospice of the Western Reserve/Ames Family House.
