John Palkovic, age 87, passed away Tuesday evening, August 26, 2014, at Manor Care Health Systems. He resided in Erie. He was born in Erie,on November 13, 1926, son of the late John and Mary Kollar Palkovic.

He is survived by his three sons, John Palkovic and his wife Judi of Punta Gorda, Fla., Michael Palkovic of Hartford, Conn., Timothy Palkovic and his wife Robin of Harborcreek Township, Pa., his two grandchildren Rachael and David Palkovic of Erie, his brother William Palkovic and his wife Delphine of Erie, his sister Maryann Palkovic of Erie, two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Palkovic of Erie, Pa., Phyllis Palkovic of California, along with many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his wife DeSales Ryan Palkovic, who passed away in 2012, a son James Palkovic, who passed away in 2004, and two brothers Francis and Edward Palkovic.

John retired from C.A. Curtze in 1992, after 43 years service. He was a lifelong member of Holy Family R.C. Church. He left Erie Technical High School during Word War II, to join the U.S. Navy, where he served in Okinawa. John was a Life Member of the Slovak Nation Club, the Fulton Athletic Club and a member of the Siebenbuerger Club. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and loved spending time with his family.

Friends may call at the Mark G. Razanauskas Funeral Home, 701 East Avenue, Erie, on Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., where a prayer service will be conducted Saturday morning at 9:30, followed by a Funeral Mass at Holy Family R.C. Church at 10 a.m. Entombment will be in Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Family School, 913 Fulton St., Erie, PA 16503.
