John W. Liebegott, 82, of Ohio St., Corry, Pa., died at the Corry Manor, on Monday, March 4, 2013. He was born on May 26, 1930, in Williamsburg, Pa.,the son of the late John and Hazel Estep Liebegott. John graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1949 and from California University in 1954 with a Bachelor of Education, majoring in Industrial Arts education and mathematics. He received his Master of Education in Industrial Arts from Penn State University in 1962. John received his Certification in Guidance and Counseling in 1965 from the Commonwealth of Pa. As a young man, John worked at the West Virginia Pulp and Paper Company as a laborer, and then at Wald Industries as a junior engineer. He then owned and operated J. L. Wood Specialties in Corry from 1968 to 1983 and co-owner of Corry Wood Products from 1977 to 1983. John was also an Industrial Arts teacher for the Corry School District for 38 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Corry, and a 50 year member of the Mason's Lodge #365 in Corry, the 32nd Degree Harrisburg Consistory and Jaffa Mosque in Altoona, Pa. He was also a life member of the Big Tree Sportsman Club in Blockville, N.Y., Corry Rod and Gun Club, Union City Sportsman Club, Erie Skeet Club, the Pennsylvania Retired Teacher's Association, Trout Unlimited and National Skeet Shooting Association. John enjoyed fly tying, fishing, skeet and trap shooting, hunting, gardening and woodworking. John is survived by his wife Nancy Kuntz Liebegott, whom he married on December 28, 1957, in Erie, Pa.; two daughters, Noreen Pierce of Clymer, N.Y., and Kathy Berkey and her husband Duane T. of Spartansburg, Pa.; a son, John T. Liebegott and his wife Kimberly of Horse Branch, Ky.; eight grandchildren, Matthew Pierce, Ryan Berkey, Derek Berkey, Christian Liebegott, Tucker Liebegott, Samantha Liebegott, Chelsey McEldowney and her husband Joel, and Cassandra Liebegott; two great-grandsons Eli and Evan McEldowney. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Masonic Services will be held at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held there on Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Brian Eiss officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Corry, Pa. Memorials may be made to the - Corry Unit, 2115 W. 38th St., Erie, PA 16508.
