John "Jack" W. Wieczorek, Jr., age 92, passed away Tuesday morning, March 18, 2014, at the St. Mary's Home, East. He was a resident of Lawrence Park, Township. He was born in Erie September 6, 1921, son of the late John W. and Mary Stoffa Wieczorek, Sr.

Jack is survived by his wife of 65 years: Constance T. Mattis Wieczorek, his three sons: Paul Wieczorek of Lawrence Park, Pa., Mark Wieczorek of Erie, Pa., and John W. Wieczorek III and his wife Bonnie of Millcreek Township, a grandson Alex Wieczorek, of Erie, a sister Judy Wieczorek of Harborcreek Township, along with several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sisters Eileen Phillips and Dolly Omelian.

Jack was a Member of Mt. Calvary R. C. Church, where he was very active. He served on the Finance Committee at the church for many years, was a Eucharistic Minister and sang in the choir. He was involved in the Cursillo movement. Jack retired from the General Electric in 1983, after over 42 years service. He was a member of the G. E. Quarter Century Club, a member of GEERS (The G. E. Exempt Employees) and a member of the G. E. Employees Credit Union Board. Jack also was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a United States Coast Guard veteran of World War II, serving in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theater of Operations. He was a member of the American Legion Post 771.

Friends may call at the G. R. Bailey Funeral Home, 4396 Iroquois Avenue, Lawrence Park, Thursday morning from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the prayer service at 12:30. A funeral mass will follow at Mt. Calvary R. C. Church at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Mt. Calvary R. C. Church, 2022 E. Lake Rd., Erie, PA 16511, or to the Second Harvest Food Bank, 1507 Grimm Rd., Erie, PA 16511.
