Joseph Boniface Dembinski, age 85 of Erie passed away Sunday January 20, 2013 at the Erie VA Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born in Erie on July 23, 1927 son of the late Boniface and Julia Bolla Dembinski. Joseph graduated from Technical Memorial School and enlisted in the Navy attaining the rank of Seaman First Class, then he was drafted in the Army where he attained the rank of Corporal. He also acted as a drill instructor while in the Army. He then worked for GTE as a cost accountant for 38 ½ years. He then worked for the PLCB Stores for 13 years. Joseph was a member of St. Luke Church, American Legion Carl Neff Post, Forester's Club, and the Siebenbuerger Club. He loved his family, gardening and cooking Polish dishes. In his earlier years, he enjoyed bowling, horseback riding and competition roller-skating. He was preceded in death by his sister Frances Mary Dembinski Shea. He was the beloved husband of 42 years of Joan Will Dembinski. He was the loving father of Julia Dembinski Burton, husband David, and Joseph Dembinski and wife Doreen (Anderson) Dembinski, and the cherished Papa of Andrew, Casey, and Daniel Burton. Slomski & Son Funeral Home Inc. 2101 Ash St. Wednesday 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and may attend a service there Thursday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Luke Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with full military honors.
