Kiara Spalding McCoy went Home to be with Jesus March 28, 2013 at 5:01 a.m. in her home in Jefferson, Georgia, surrounded by her devoted husband Mike, her loving children Molly, Maggie, Katie, Caleb, and her sister Monica Brown. Kia is absent from her body and now is present and celebrating God's grace in Heaven with her Lord and Savior.

Kia was born to the late Dr. David P. Spalding and Rose Dowling Spalding on March 8, 1949 in Racine, Wisconsin. Kia precedes her brother Brain Spalding (Tenn.), Kevin Spalding (N.C.), and her sister Monica (England). Kia was affectionately known as Grandma Kia to her seven grandchildren. She was loved and will be greatly missed.

Kia impacted everyone she met with her grace, beauty, elegance, wisdom and kind spirit. She is a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and loved God's Word. This was the guiding light in her life. Kia believed in the verses John 3:16-18.

Kia graduated from Strong Vincent HS in Erie, Pa. Upon graduation, she joined the Ice Capades for two years. She also studied at Penn State University. On July 4, 1970, Mike and Kia were married at St. Andrews Church in Erie, Pa. Kia then followed Mike in his NFL career moving 27 times! She was also a banker, a devoted mother, grandmother, leader of a ladies Bible study for many years and administrative assistant to Mike's ministry.

About four years ago, Kia's sister, Monica, convinced a rather reluctant Kia to start skating again after being off ice for 35 years! They competed in adult figure skating competitions all over Europe and won many events! Kia and Monica were known as Dave's Girls in honor of their father. Kia won the International Adult Figure Skating Championships in 2011 and last May (2012) in Germany. When she arrived home she noticed a lump in her left thigh. What we thought was an injured muscle turned out to be an aggressive sarcoma. She was diagnosed on July 7, 2012.

One of her favorite saying was, "I Love You to the Moon and Back." Some of her skating competitions can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1A0kjxtKc6s and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kFZaeOMo2k

There will be two celebration services: One on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. at YMCA Camp Fitch in East Springfield, Pa.; the other at St. Patrick's Church in Menasha, Wisconsin on October 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery Menasha, Wisconsin in Spalding family plot.

Memorial contributions can be made to: Mike McCoy Ministries, Inc., 2224 Cotton Gin Row, Jefferson, GA 30549 www.mccoy77.com.
