Laurence A. "Larry" Weiss, age 75, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at St. Vincent Health Center. He was born November 22, 1937 in Erie, son of the late Raymond Weiss and Laura Zelasky. He had resided in Erie for most of his life. Larry was a '55 graduate of Cathedral Preparatory School and had attended Gannon College. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was stationed in Puerto Rico, where he served as a military police officer. Larry had served as a City of Erie Police Officer for 23 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of Erie F.O.P. Lodge #7. He enjoyed making long road trips and spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters. Larry was a "news junkie" and especially liked to be in-the-know by watching the evening news on television and reading the daily newspaper. Survivors include his beloved daughter, Laurie A. Mikielski (Kevin) of Millcreek Township; his sister, Mary Kaliszewski Baker (Charles) of Millcreek Township; two granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Alexandria Mikielski and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral Home, Inc., East, 2607 Buffalo Road, on Sunday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Prayer Service there on Monday at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Stanislaus R.C. Church at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery with full military honors.
